We're forced to leave our home, there's nothing for us left
The orb we once called home is now nothing but a barren waste
Once a vital life force, this precious gift lies raped
We’ve drained her of all nurture, our stewardship has failed
For all those left behind, a certain doom draws near
The ark could but contain a sample, us chosen few
Coordinates set to start anew
Into the starscape we gaze
Beheld by eyes that shine deep in the dark
We are pilgrims of the stars
Now the future’s in our hands, we are the last hope for our kin
The cargo that we hold is the fate of all mankind
Our pilgrims’ way is set and there’s no way going back
Each of us though wonder: Is it an honor or a curse?
We proudly march aboard the ark
Into the night we set forth
Beheld by eyes that shine deep in the dark
We are pilgrims of the stars

We wake from slumber
The end of hibernation
At last we’re animate
We’re free from dreamless sleep
Now sullen eyes
See what no man has seen
A bright blue surface
Stares back from glowing screens
Prepare the vessel for orbit
The sphere is approaching fast
Set course for descent through the atmosphere
Below waits our home to be
The pilgrims have reached their final destination
Their journey through darkness is at long last over
But the real quest still remains of establishing a colony
A settlement securing the future of our species
Our ark descends
Break into virgin land
The ship is trembling
The point of no return
A deafening roaring
as we burst through the clouds
Then stillness comes
The craft at once stands still
The pilgrims now look at each other
Surprised that the hull is intact
In silence they gather the courage
courage to release the hatch
The pilgrims have reached their final destination
Their journey through darkness is at long last over
But the real quest still remains of establishing a colony
